**CANCELLED DUE TO AUTHOR ILLNESS
In the spirit of connecting writers with readers, Valley Bookseller and the Daily Grind are partnering up to present Authors After Hours. We will meet one or two Fridays a month at 6:45pm in the Daily Grind. Guest authors will present their work, discuss the writing process and take questions. Attendees must call the store to reserve their spot (max of 20 people) and pay a $5 fee. On the night of the event, arrive by 6:45 and get a free beverage before the Grind closes at 7:00. Presentation will start after everyone is settled in and go until 8:00 or so. The bookstore will be closed by that time as well but everyone will have a chance to shop after hours if they choose.
Call the store at 651-430-3385 to make your reservation today!
Author Bio: Judy Stern, Minnesota author, isn’t sticking to one genre, in life or literature. She’s been a mother, student, gallery owner, clothing designer, shopkeeper, teacher. And now she’s the author of a trio of literary journals that make up a series, Teachings from Mother Earth. Part lived experience, part history lesson, part acquired wisdom, the books outline attitudes and perspectives Stern gained over a lifetime, following little but her intuition. The books are strongly influenced by decades of learning from American Indians about their traditional cultures.
“We Euro-Westerners have more to learn about our world and how it ideally would be from the Indians than we have to teach them,” says Stern.
"In this book which is so valuable to our culture and to our continued existence on this planet, Judy Stern encourages us to seek freedom, knowledge, safety, and deeper connections with our world. Her's is an important, open, honest journey, covering the education and growth of a woman mentally, physically, and spiritually, and at its core is the Native American world view," Freya Manfred, poet and memoir-writer, the author of "Swimming With A Hundred Year Old Snapping Turtle," and "Frederick Manfred: A Daughter Remembers."
